Inside Waves of Love
This pilgrimage corresponds with Musica, the fourth of the liberal arts. Musica is held under the aegis of the Sun and the philosopher Pythagoras. You will be invited to contemplate the entire cosmos as a divine work, designed to express beauty, and through its sound, to heal and transform. This is why Pythagoras called the universe cosmos, which means ornament. He intuited that the universe is in continuous song, and that sound, numbers and geometric forms constitute its basic building blocks as it continues to unfold in pure beauty. He could sit so still that he could hear the vibrations of the planets and the Sun. It was from the Sun, said Pythagoras, that one could sense the “music of the spheres.” Through music, we ascertain the laws which govern the heavenly bodies, and by which their motions are directed. Through music, we resonate with all beings, and depending on the frequencies and tones, we can heal and we can transform.
We will celebrate the spiritual relationship of the human being to the Earth and the Cosmos through sacred dance including whirling, and awaken our soul to a conscious experience of the harmony of the spheres. This is an experience through which the divine origin of the human being becomes tangible.
For the Chartrian Masters, the Liberal Arts were ultimately an artistic impulse, through which the highest appreciation of the sacred is expressed. Dancing the patterns and rhythms of the cosmos opened sacred communion with the world of the stars. The labyrinth no doubt emerged out of their cosmic contemplations. Led by Banafsheh Sayyad, we will whirl like the planets and stars, echoing that which from heaven streams down to human beings and animates us to become luminous reflections of love. Banafsheh will guide us into opening each day with sacred movement in the Cathedral. She will also invite us into freestyle dance and movement to embody music, and experience our body as “An instrument playing a love song,” as says Rumi, letting our creativity flow as we harmonize together like one great orchestra.
HeatherAsh Amara, best-selling author and teacher, will help weave and co-create ceremonies and embodied healing experiences
Apela Colorado, PhD, elder of the Oneida-Gaul ancestry, founder of the World Indigenous Science Network, will guide the exploration of our dreams.
Chloe Goodchild, an international renowned signer, teacher, song writer and founder of The Naked Voice, will guide us to find our voice.
Calen Rayne, DMin, expert on the labyrinth and the energetics of the Chartres Cathedral, will share insights on the labyrinth and lead the rituals.
Banafsheh Sayyad, MFA, MA, Co-Director of Ubiquity Chartres Academy, will moderate and guide the group to embody the wisdom teachings explored during our week.
Jim Garrison, PhD will co-moderate the proceedings and speak on the life and teachings of Pythagoras.
Each day will include Sacred Movement, Dreamwork, the Naked Voice practice, immersion in the Cathedral, sound journeys, and personal time for meditation and exploration. We will dance and sing. We will have the opportunity to sing and do sacred movement in the Cathedral as a private group every morning before it opens; one private evening in the cathedral devoted to walking the labyrinth, and another private evening in the lower church (crypt). Check out the schedule which is subject to change.
There will also be time to enjoy the marvelous cafes and restaurants around the Cathedral with old and new friends, and the most extraordinary light shows around the town of Chartres at night.
Our intention is to heed the call of the Divine Feminine, to see her around us and become her in our very cells so we can live in harmony with each other and with the Earth and all of the Earth community. We will integrate head, heart and body through wisdom teachings, song, dance and theater, and immersion in the imagery and symbolism of the cathedral.
